Black History Month

Black communities have contributed so much to our country to make it the diverse and prosperous nation it is today. Their history is barely spoken about, so we must take it upon ourselves to educate ourselves and push for change.

As part of Talk Future Canada's promise to create a diverse environment and push for change, we're celebrating Black History Month and giving a platform to Black creators and activists. Our posts for the month will discuss issues Black communities face and all resources from our posts will be linked here!

The Black LGBTQ+ Community

When we talk about helping the LGBTQ+ community, our conversation also needs to include Black LGBTQ+ communities. Racialized people of the LGBTQ+ community face many challenges, and the Black LGBTQ+ community is no exception. They face challenges specific to them and it is crucial that we listen, learn, and work to tackle those issues.

Anti-Black Racism Around the World

We must learn to call it out and call our leaders to make a change and work together to eliminate anti-Black racism. We must also amplify their voices. Let’s strive for a world of equality and diversity.

This is an example of the importance of social determinants of health when we talk about public health. Pandemic or not, these social and economic barriers continue to impact racialized groups.
